About Rachel Mae
As the daughter of blues man, David Brewer who toured with Albert Collins, Rachel grew up immersed in the blues scene.
For over a decade she’s made a name for herself as a singer-songwriter in the Americana/Country scene, spending several years living in Nashville, but her blues roots are undeniable from the moment she begins to sing. Rachel’s Dad introduced her to Etta’s music when she was in the 4th grade, and from that point on, Etta would forever be one of Rachel’s greatest influences.
“I spent hours on end in my bedroom as a kid learning every word to every song on the Etta James cassette tape my Dad gave me.
I was mesmerized by Etta James. I started studying her style and the way she could command the songs with so much power and emotion, while still letting you see her softer, vulnerable side.
She was the master, and I wanted to be just like her when I grew up.” - Rachel Mae
